Newly appointed City Court Judge Lyndon Williams said, “I wish to thank Mayor Shawyn PattersonHoward for placing her trust in me and giving me this opportunity to serve my community on the judiciary. I want to thank my family for their support as I take on a new role of public service. Over the past 12 years, I have served the residents of Mount Vernon with dignity, effectiveness, and dedication, as their County Legislator, and provided leadership on the Westchester County Board of Legislators. I intend to bring the same dedication and leadership skills in working with my colleagues on the Mount Vernon City Court to ensure equality, justice, and fairness in our judicial system as well as protecting the safety and well-being of our residents and families. The qualities of a judge require good character and temperament, to be fair and unbiased, respectful and efficient as well as the ability to apply the applicable law to the relevant facts at hand. I believe that my public service experience in the city and county legislative bodies, and legal experience and skills as an attorney handing complex legal matters, make me eminently qualified to serve Mount Vernon as its next City Court Judge.” William Wagstaff, Chair of Judicial Committee said, “The opportunity to learn about the candidates’ professional success thus far, passion for justice, and promise for the future gave me confidence that the bench is in every candidate’s future. To see the array of talented lawyers we have in the community, made me a proud Mount Vernonite.” Mayor Patterson-Howard said, “We brought together individuals who have been impacted by the justice system to create a diverse panel of thought. I thank the judicial committee for coming together and providing great recommendations for City Court Judge. Lyndon Williams will be a welcomed addition to our City Court. He brings leadership, judicial knowledge and compassion to this position. We look forward to seeing them serve as a champion for our community.”
